In any setting, cues and visuals are essential in enhancing the learning experience for adults and children. These powerful tools go beyond verbal instructions and wirtten content, offering multi-sensory approaches that aid learning and engagement. This training session reviews the importance of setting up and effectively using their own cues and visuals to facilitate the constant practice of watch-listen-engage and repeat cycles of support necessary for effective interactions. Through practical ideas and activities, this session presents the use of concrete visual cues to grow constructive teaching skills by applying the CLASS concepts learned and integrating them as a part of the daily routines.

This two-day, in-person training provides staff with the skills to identify, prevent, and deescalate crisis situations. Participants will learn how to respond to various levels of crisis behaviors while maintaining the care, welfare, safety, and security of all individuals. 

Training Overview

Day 1: Prevention and de-escalation. 
Focus on using verbal and non-verbal techniques to prevent situations from escalating. 

Day 2: Physical intervention techniques.
Covers safety intervention strategies for maximizing safety and minimizing harm during a physical crisis.

IDENTIFY the stages of the CPI Crisis Development Model to recognize behavior patterns.

EMPLOY effective verbal de-escalation techniques.

DEVELOP non-verbal communication strategies to encourage a positive outcome.
