21CSLA Winter Leadership Retreat with Dr. Kim Wallace
Transforming organizational culture and improving student outcomes is a crucial goal that educational leaders strive for, and achieving this goal requires more than just positive intentions. Dr. Kim Wallace, experienced educator, author, consultant, and facilitator offers leaders a practical course of action to achieve this through infusing new initiatives into their organizations through an equity lens. With Dr. Wallace’s guidance, leaders will amplify opportunities and diminish systemic barriers for historically marginalized students, leading to improved student outcomes and a more inclusive culture. Shifting the Mindset: Supporting At-Promise Youth
This five part series focuses on making a shift to an assets-based approach when educating at-promise youth. Topics will include educational reform for Black youth with Dr. Bettina Love, meeting the needs of at-promise youth, and providing culturally sustaining spaces. All participants will receive a copy of Dr. Love's newest book Punished for Dreaming: How School Reform Harms Black Children and How We Heal.

GUIDING QUESTION What should leaders see in inclusive, high quality, and culturally and linguistically relevant TK classrooms?
LEARNING OUTCOME After exploring research and standards related to high-quality, developmentally appropriate instruction, leaders can identify specific “look fors” in TK classrooms to develop their instructional leadership for implementing California’s UTK.
