The Academic Decathlon will be seeking volunteers to help on January 23, 2021. Sign up to volunteer or email Kristi Winter today to be a speech and/or interview judge! The event needs more than 85 volunteers.
Volunteer from the comfort of your own home! The speech and interview events will be held virtually via Zoom. Volunteers will be provided all of the information and instructions necessary to easily log in and will be placed in breakout rooms of up to four community members. Judges will score the presentations and interact with students just like in the past! Internet and video access is necessary. If preferred, volunteers may report to the MCSOS office for help conducting the online judging following any COVID guidelines that are in place at the time. All instructions and information will be sent electronically.
Interview judges needed on Saturday, January 23 from 9:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m.
Each student is required to interview in front of a panel of up to three interviewers. Students will be asked a series of questions based on Decathlon guidelines. The interview judges will then score the student in different areas based on how they feel the student did. A brief orientation will be provided prior to the event.
Speech judges needed on Saturday, January 23 from 1:00-4:00 p.m.
Each student is required to give a 4-minute prepared speech and 2-minute impromptu speech. Each student will deliver these speeches in front of up to four volunteers. The speech judges will then score the student in different areas based on how they feel the student did. A brief orientation will be provided prior to the event.
