In response to the Governor’s press release and recommendations from our Public Health Department, we have made the decision to cancel the 2020 Math Tournament. We are sorry to have to make this decision, but the safety and well-being of the children, school faculty, and the community-at-large is at the forefront of this decision. We look forward to working with students at the 2021 Math Tournament.
Are you ready to run the race as a Mathlete? Well, you're in the right place!
On April 3, 2020 middle school students will participate in multiple team competitions including: Circuit Training, Relay Race, Leap Frog and Mad Hatter.
The Math Tournament will be held at the Madera Center. The public is invited to watch the relay race beginning at 10:30 a.m.
Circuit Training: Each two-person team will work together while moving through different stations. They will work collaboratively on estimation, spatial visualization, interpretation of tables, charts and maps, and other interesting problems.
Relay Race: Teams will line up approximately 50 feet from a chair. Each student runs to his/her assigned chair and chooses a question to answer. Once finished he/she will run back and tag the next team member.
Mad Hatter: Teams of two will work together to answer 20 multiple choice questions. Questions will be projected on a screen at 45-second intervals.
Leap Frog: Team member one will receive questions 1-25 and team member two will receive questions 26-50. They will work independently on their own test for 30 minutes then will switch tests and complete, correct, and check the other person's test before submitting the final answers.
